Show 326 Review

Show 326 Review

As for my role in Episode #326, I was an actor in the ups and downs episode, and pieced everything together in a coherent manner. Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • Ups and Downs was pretty funny, I like the in depth character development
  • The promposal segment captured the mood of the school and the essence of the time
  • I liked the varied use of personalities   in the Unpopular Opinion segment
  • Overall, I think this episode was a Middle of the pack episode
  • The Bad
  • The hosts were low energy and did not have much on screen chemistry
  • The introduction to the Musician of the Week was too long
  • The camera angles on sports were a little off center

Show 325 Review

As for my role in Episode #325, I was the head editor of the entire show, and pieced everything together in a coherent manner. Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • The hosts were very energetic and Sabrina and Georgia have great on-screen chemistry and were very entertaining
  • The W.I.L. Ad was of a high film quality although the black box around the screen was distracting and unprofessional
  • Behind the Scenes made DubTV look much more creative and innovative than we really are, so props for propaganda
  • Greg and Alex had good chemistry for hosts, they seemed very relaxed behind the camera
  • Overall, I think this episode was one of the worst we've produced in a while, mostly advertisements
The Bad
  • Why are we using commercials in a 7 minute show?!?
  • There was not enough video content in Sports
  • The speed of the subtitles in the AGE ad were too fast, but the content was important and relevant
  • The Powderpuff Girls ad used the portrait function on the camera, which looked out of place on the big screen

The Bacon Review

The fifth issue was pretty hard to put together, because everyone was getting back into the swing of things after a long winter and our organization was a little disjointed. This issue was a good preview of things to come. As for my role in the April issue, I worked on the opinion article with the versus about why the egg came before the chicken. I researched on many websites to get the information I needed to write the article. Each issue, like I do with DubTV, I'll break down the newspaper using a three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good
  • Dillon's leg-dancing article was a hit around the school, and I think the amount of effort he put into creating a funny concept and running with it to the point where people are talking about it should be looked upon with a high level of pride. My friends and I were even doing some leg dancing this weekend.
  • I really enjoyed the level of variety we had in this issue. There was everything from joke athlete spotlights to DubTV parodies, and I think the diversity of subject matter helps us appeal to a much broader audience- there really is something for everyone in this issue of the Bacon
  • I loved the cartoons on the back page, they give the Bacon a more intimate feel
The Bad
  • There were still grammatical errors littered throughout the paper, and as we have around a month to produce each paper, we should be able to minimize, if not completely eliminate grammatical errors in future issues
  • The front page articles didn't generate as much interest as did other articles throughout the paper, more time could be spent figuring out which stories have the most relevance to our reader base
  • I still think we could push out more content on a monthly basis, for a class that meets 50 minutes a day, 5 days a week, we could write more high-quality articles if we spent less time on menial/useless tasks
The Ugly
  • The blurry words under the header are distracting and look unprofessional
  • There is a lack of professional photoshop, and the need for a staff photographer was made evident last week when we had to hurriedly edit photos last week to meet a deadline
  • All the celebrity crush answers are the same, understand it's intentional but not funny?

Show 323 Review

As for my role in Episode #323, I was the head editor of the entire show, and pieced everything together in a coherent manner. Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • I really liked the Zach Hayes pasty white guys sketch, we could use more of a mockumentary style in our segments
  • I thought the Sargent SAT Solutions segment was a timely piece considering many juniors are preparing for said tests as we speak
  • The pan out on the legs being shaved is one of the best segments to ever grace the DubTV screen
  • Greg and Alex had good chemistry for hosts, they seemed very relaxed behind the camera
  • Overall, I think this episode was well edited and from a content standpoint, I think the entertaining segments were a welcome addition throughout the show.
The Bad
  • Sound Equalizing! Oh my god the show is so loud can we please focus on making it not blow out the speakers of every computer in the school
  • Hallways of Our Lives, while great, was way too long, we could've chosen a different episode that was more concise
  • Fresh cuts seemed like it was thrown in because we needed something from this year, but it didn't live up to the "Best of" hype
  • The Ugly
  • We couldn't find the video files for pasty white guys or slang word, so we had to screen capture them, and as such the audio/video quality suffered
  • I think it would've helped to cut the sound on the DubTV commercials at the end credits

Show 322 Review

As for my role in Episode #321, I was the host of the show alongside August Greenberg. Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • I really like the Fools Ad Campaign, really does a good job of promoting the Company, and is always well edited and well put together
  • Foreign Exchange Student Interview was were well edited, and the combo of different images and music helped to keep the segment engaging throughout.
  • The KENNER AND EVAN APPEARANCE IN RENT-A BAE
  • Dolphin Code, once I figured out what the premise was, was really entertaining to watch
  • Ryan and August had good chemistry for hosts, they seemed very relaxed behind the camera
  • Overall, I think this episode was well edited and from a content standpoint, I think the informative and entertaining segments were balanced throughout the show.
The Bad
  • Sound Equalizing! Oh my god the show is so loud can we please focus on making it not blow out the speakers of every computer in the school
  • DubTV Commercial!!! Why was this commercial in, it is truly an abomination on the eyes?!?
  • Unpopular Opinion was too short yet again
The Ugly
  • Sports was a little hard to understand and the photos were stretched at some points
  • Dolphin Code Ending/ Beginning, needed to have more room for a transition out of the segment, needed a little explanation of the segment
  • The Kenner footage at the beginning was of a little lower quality than standard on our broadcast, it would've been helpful if it was a segment and not just the opening montage

Show 321 Review

As for my role in Episode #321, I was an actor in the segment "Ups and Downs". Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • Unpopular Opinion was finally longer than 10 seconds!!! I very much appreciate this and I think this segment has a lot of potential to include the entire WY community, something noted by our audience that we can improve upon
  • Fools Ad was well put together and a good promotion of the WY Company
  • Spencer and Alex had good chemistry for hosts, they seemed very relaxed behind the camera
  • Overall, I think this episode was well edited and from a content standpoint, I think the informative and entertaining segments were balanced throughout the show.
The Bad
  • Too much content that isn't our own, didn't like the Wynn ad
  • AP Horror trailer could've been placed in a later show, in closer conjunction with the timing for AP testing
  • Trixzz Squad is a little bit of a tired segment, I think they could try using different types of shots for more variety
  • LSC Ad ran a little too long, althoguh the location was cool so I didn't mind too much
The Ugly
  • Some of the cuts on Ups and Downs were a little weird, disconcerting for the viewer
  • The sound on Trixzz Squad was very loud and not equalized with the rest of the show
  • The Trump footage was of a little lower quality than standard on our broadcast, it would've been helpful if it was a segment and not just the opening montage

Show 320 Review

As for my role in Episode #320, I was an actor in the segment "Food Critic", was the writer/producer of the segment "The Classroom", and hosted and helped edit and produce the overall show. Here's my breakdown of the show using my three tiered system: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

  • Food Critic was one of the better things DUBTV has put out in a while, effectively utilizing humor and quick cuts to keep the audience entertained. I was pleasantly surprised when people came up to me in the hallway and told me they enjoyed my performance in the segment. Stay tuned for more to come.
  • WY Progressives was a very effective, informative advertisement that did something DUBTV doesn't do a lot of-inform it's audience of important things going on in the school community.
  • Most of the host transitions were funny and I think August and I had good chemistry which lead to  more energized host transitions that usual.
  • Overall, I think this episode was well edited and from a content standpoint, I think the informative and entertaining segments were balanced throughout the show.
The Bad
  • The jokes to open the hosting and to close the hosting fell pretty flat, and especially August and I swapping around our names seemed to confuse people more than anything else
  • Once it got to the performances, the Black Arts Expo piece was very well timed, but before that the pictures ran for too long and the segment could've been shortened with a faster slideshow. Also, the camerawork on some of the performers made it so that it was hard to see the faces of those performers.
  • I still think Unpopular Opinion needs to be longer, it's puzzling when the introduction for the segment is longer than the segment itself.
  • The Classroom has lost a bit of steam lately, and the plot is something that definitely needs to be revitalized.
The Ugly
  • The color of the subtitles for hosts, they were in red and very hard to read, I heard a lot of people in the audience complaining about how they couldn't read what they said.
  • The audio in Sports was almost inaudible over the music, a sound editor could have fixed that  very easily if they had noticed it
  • The LSC Rep ads were not of the same video quality/formatting, so that didn't look visually appealing, and also didn't make sense when they were both going for the same position.
